While Ben Franklin never saw the use of Day Lights Saving Time in it's modern form, he did suggest an early version of it during his time in France. He suggested that the citizens of Paris could save candles by waking up earlier and using more daylight.

He was one of the most brilliant Americans of all time. Yet I'd rather light a candle at night then get up earlier in the morn.

I was reading about him recently when I was looking up his 'Do not squander time...' quote. I had no idea he had done so much. He definitely followed his own advice.
My fellow Philadelphian was quite a guy, Adam.
Aloha
He was a smart guy. However, I found it a bother to constantly change ALL the clocks in spring and fall.

One of the most brilliant minds that has ever lived on this earth.
He sure knew how to get things done
most of people here in EUrope hate those daylight saving times....
That was good advice. Best not to sleep the day away!
"Early to bed, early to rise" . . . he wrote that, didn't he?
He was a genius!

Maybe that was okay back then, but it's not really useful in modern times. I'd rather not throw off my body every 6 months by changing the time.
You are a super bearer of sharing history with us. In case, you do not see me comment for a day or so, going this afternoon to spend a couple days with great grandson before school starts.
