Fact of the Day: Only President

The Whig Party convinced General Zachary Taylor to be their nominee for president despite having very little interest in politics. Taylor became president later despite never serving a role in Congress or in a state legislature.

Having never served in office meant he had few enemies, which is probably why he was elected.
