Fact of the Day: Red Moon

During a lunar eclipse the moon can turn red especially during a full-eclipse. Typically the moon shines because of sunlight, however during an eclipse it passes in the shadow of the Earth. The reason it turns red is that some sun-light passes through the Earth's atmosphere and reflects upon the moon.

I love it when things like that happen. Red moons, and the huge moon..whatever that is called. Where it looks larger cause it's closer by a little.

It's really a wonder to see eclipses. Though most times one may not get to see the fullest. Wonderful write Adam! Say how's your golf, dude! You may wish to see my son's at my post here:

That must be the same as a red moon which will be happening around April 20 and is supposed to bring some fearful, fateful political happenings. (astrologically speaking) If this falls into a cold war, a nuke war will follow in Oct or Nov and if not at that time.... in 13 years. Don't look at me..... I just heard it.

There are people alive right now in the U.S. that are afraid of this event like it's an evil omen. Sigh. I wish more people sought out answers through science.

I've heard of a red moon also being called a hunter's moon. Either way it's a pretty phenomenon.

I told a girl I knew about it (as it's coming up on the 15th) and she goes "you mean the world is going to end like it says in the Bible". Apparently there are some passages about the red moon, though I figure bronze-age people of simpler times got pretty scared of the moon changing colors.

And it's not that rare of an event. It's happened plenty of times in the 20th century and 21st century. We're even suppose to have 2 this year.

Though I do laugh at some of these people, if it can't even remotely tell the past accurately, predicting the future is out of the question. Also if we can predict it's going to happens decades (or centuries) beforehand, it's not magic it's science.
