Magician David Copperfield was actually born David Kotkin. He got the idea for his stage-name from Charles Dickens' novel David Copperfield because he liked the sound of it.
Interesting. So many famous people have changed their name from their original. I should go ahead and be thinking of one in case I become famous someday...

I watched show with him in childhood.
The name 'Copperfield' does have a nice ring to it.
haven't seen him in ages... is he still married to that German tart?
Does have a better ring to it
It was a nice idea to choose this name! What nationality is him? Kisses:)
American
Well, he may like the NAME....I like HIM....whew....he's a handsome dude...:)
He's also a great magician, because he's made his career almost entirely vanish. Where did it go? POOF!
I always doubted he was born with that name and assumed it was appropriated as part of his act.
Yeah, I do think it sounds better than his actual name..
