Fact of the Day: Laos French

Due to France once conquering the Asian nation Laos, the French language still has a considerable amount of use in the country. It is commonly taught in schools, sometimes used in government, and many signs also have a French translation.

Indochina was always mostly French

Well Portugal made their language the way to speak in Brazil. French is just the most popular European language.

I didn´t know this. I knew that French people had been in the north of Africa but not in Asia. Kisses:)

Surprisingly I knew this, if only because my dad has a coworker who's Laotian and speaks French. He always thinks it's the weirdest thing.

I didn't know that, very interesting! I speak french and I have to say it is a beautiful language but quite difficult to become fluent though.

I think the language is beautiful. Wish I would have studied it for more than 3 years. I am afraid I am not good at speaking it well anymore.
