Fact of the Day: Pharaoh Alexander

After Alexander the Great conquered Egypt, he was seen as a hero and many thought of him as the son of the Egyptian god Amun. Alexander was okay with this as Amun was considered as the Egyptian version of Zeus. He also became Egypt's pharaoh.

Egyptian and Persian history is fascinating, and often very different when told from each perspective!

My college had a class on Egyptian history and I always wished I had taken it as an elective.

I've always liked that mosaic portrait of Alexander. The art looks very modern to me although of course it is not.
