Fact of the Day: Basketball Honor

When basketball became an official Olympic sport in 1936, James Naismith tossed out the first basketball as he was the creator of the sport. He also handed out the medals with USA getting the gold medal, Canada getting the silver medal, and Mexico getting the bronze medal.

Because James Naismith was Canadian, we have a "Heritage Minute" TV video dedicated to him and his peach baskets:

These Heritage Minutes are supposed to help teach Canadians about our own history and heritage. They've been running on TV here for decades.

Knew he created it thanks to those commercials, never knew he threw out the first ball though

I think the game would be much more fun today if they still used peach baskets. And maybe peaches.

I don't like to watch basketball, but I do like to shoot a few hoops here and there.
