Fact of the Day: China Zone
While most large countries have multiple time zones, China just has one. Before communists took over and established the People's Republic of China in 1949, China had five time zones.
I already have enough of a time trying to figure out what time a TV show airs when they say things like, "airing 5 central." This seems pretty practical.
I fint it hilarious that they only have 1 time zone, I guess some people's mornings start at 3am and some people's night ends with it still being very bright outside :)
Can you imagine a morning radio talk show.... "Goooooood morning, Beijing!! Time to rise and shine!!" While in Kashgar... "What the frik is he talking about???? It's still dark outside!!!"
No kidding? I had no idea even though I've been there. I'm just making a quick visit though I still have guests at my house and am still on my blog hiatus.
5 seems like a lot! I am thankful that my phone switches time zones automatically for me, otherwise I would be really lost on time when traveling.
ReplyDeleteWow, that's a lot.
ReplyDeleteThat's true, China is a huge country yet it only has one time zone. It's quite an interesting fact :p !
ReplyDeleteWell I didn't know that!
ReplyDeleteI wonder how many Canada has.
ReplyDeleteSounds like it takes the complication away - I wish we had one time zone as well!
ReplyDelete5 is crazy!!!
ReplyDeleteAn easy way to be with just 1
ReplyDeleteit's more practical. I have hellish times everytime I have to calculate the difference between Central Europe and USA.

I agree with this Al, it might be praticial for a small group of people but I'd rather not wake up at 3pm in the afternoon when it's really morning
DeleteI learned that this year, interesting.
ReplyDeleteProbably is easier having one time.
ReplyDeleteDidn't know the Chinese were as crazy about time zones as are the residents of Arizona.
ReplyDeleteAnother new thing learned today on your blog.
ReplyDeleteWow, I didn't know that! Thank you for passing by my blog :)
