In middle school I remember a girl in class with a trait we never did notice. Near the end of the 8th grade year, she complains about feet pain and takes off her shoes. For some reason, she wore high-heels all year long. I figured as much because everyone was shocked to see that not only did she obviously lose height, but she was actually very short. While being tall isn't important to women as it is to men, perception is everything. Though at least she could wear high-heels, men can't really do anything to look taller.
