Fact of the Day: Spiders Web

While spiders are synonymous with their webs, not all spider use them. Wolf spiders and jumping spiders use other talents to catch their prey.

Most house spiders don't cast a web.

I read somewhere that spider webs are so strong that if it were possible to make a rope out of this material that was two inches think, it would be strong enough to lift a submarine out of the water.

This is a fascinating group of animals. I'm rereading LOTR's The Two Towers right now. Shelob gives me nightmares, but I keep reading the books and watching the movies again and again. Have a good one!
