Fact of the Day: Cold Penguin

Like other birds, Macaroni Penguins go through a period where they lose their old feathers to make way for new ones. For at least two weeks, Macaroni Penguins cannot eat as they need their feathers to swim in the cold waters. Which makes finding food nearly impossible.

Interesting but I bet they eat up before hand.

maybe the others feed them, since penguins love families and helping each other

Hoping their feathered family and friends will share their catch of the day. 2 weeks is a long time going without food.

Why "macaroni" penguins? I'm sure it doesn't have a pasta connection.

What irony!

I like this idea too. Penguins really do have strong family bonds, so maybe they do help each other out!

Just what I need, something to keep me from eating for a few weeks.
