Fact of the Day: Corporal Wojtek

Wojtek was a bear found in Iran, and he was adopted into the Polish Army. They trained him in non-combat roles, and he was given the rank of corporal. After the war, he ended up in a zoo in Scotland.

A corporal bear who ended up in a zoo. Sounds like a good movie idea!

Looks lovely bear, and no doubt lived his life in a nice zoo after his duties.

I'm sure the bear was better off in a Scottish zoo than in Iran. Actually, I didn't know Iran HAD bears.

Too bad they didn't return him to a nice forest, unless that was not possible.
