Fact of the Day: Potatoe

In 1992, then-Vice President Dan Quayle was invited to a school's spelling bee. During it, a student had spelled "potato" correctly, but Quayle told him the correct spelling of the word was "potatoe". Quayle later blamed the blunder on the school's staff.

Naturally it was the school's fault. If our school systems had done a better job of educating people, we would have never elected someone like Dan Quayle.

I was never a fan of Dan Quayle, but the card he was given spelled potato with an "e" at the end. Frankly, at the time I also thought it had an "e" at the end.

Not a Dan Quayle fan here either, but not because of his lack of spelling ability, but because I'm SO not a Republican. Lol. Not now at 51, and most certainly not back in the olden days of my late 20s. One potatoe two potatoe. Snort.
