Question: What Do You Think of Pope Francis?

While I'm not a Catholic nor any kind of Christian, I do recognize the Papacy's influence and importance for over a billion Catholics.  While some of his stances on social issues have irked my fellow liberals, I admire his dedication to humbleness and the less fortunate. When Pope Benedict XVI stepped down, many noted the many struggles and problems the church faced. Now almost two years later, I can see Pope Francis making things (in my eyes) for the better.

What do you think of Pope Francis?

While I don't accept everything he says, he does seem like a breath of fresh air and the changes he's making trying to bring the Church into the modern era are certainly worthwhile. But I do worry about him because he's making a lot of enemies both inside and outside of the Church, and it only takes one nut job to create a tragedy.

I can't say anything about him really as I haven't been following what he is up to in detail. Fresh air is always good though!

I'm Agnostic and think it's a little nuts for human beings to follow other human beings and do what they say in the way that some people follow the churches and the pope.

I feel Pope Francis is a good change for the Church.
I admire his humility and candor.

I think that he is personally a good man and a wise Christian. If he influences people by his behaviour, great. But that is a far cry from reforming the sexist, racist and homophobic doctrines of the Catholic Church itself. Until that occurs, the Church remains a force for human oppression.

He is well liked by the Catholics. Seems like a good man.

As both of us are former Catholics, I think he's at least a step in the right direction. He's already a ton better than his predecessor, Emperor Palpatine.

I think you nailed it in few words, Adam. That's a talent. I like the guy, despite the selfish childless which seems a bit harsh...but maybe his deeper point it valid. Usually is.

I also don't agree with everything Pope Francis says but I do like him very much. I make it a point to read all the articles about him. I think he is good for the Catholic Church, in my humble opinion.

This is the first pope I've ever really paid attention to. He seems like a good person with good intentions. Let's hope that he leads his flock in the right direction.

I actually know nothing about him other than every time I see him, he has a smile on his face....

I agree with you 100%. I don't agree with him on everything, but I love what he's doing within the church.
