Fact of the Day: Edward Bear

The famous fictional bear Winnie-the-Pooh's proper name in the stories is Edward Bear. The name Winnie comes from the actual bear known as Winnipeg or "Winnie" for short. She was a popular animal in the London Zoo until her death in 1934.

Winnie is a much more memorable name than Edward, unless you happened to be King Edward.
