Funny Story: Dog Bath

My dog is a jack-russell/beagle mix, but she is more of a jack-russell in personality. She used to be pretty strong and quick, which would make giving her a bath a very difficult situation. She hated baths, so much so that she would always try to jump out of the bathtub. So to counter this, I would take her for a long walk. Then let my mom take her for a long walk, and then I would let my brother take her for another walk. As soon as she got back from the third walk, she wouldn't have the strength to get out of bath-time.

That's right -- wear them out! It works with toddlers too, I understand.

Debra's right. Wear them out...just like kids!

That's both funny...and smart. I've learned from experience that jack-russells don't have an "off" switch.

OMG, one of my dogs is a jack-russell/beagle mix!
She's on my right in this photo. We rescued her and she has a little broken tail from before we got her. BTW, a jack/beagle mix is called a Jackabee! She has a lot of energy. I walk both my dogs about 2 miles a day.

Walking is the best way. They listen better, and the walks are what the dogs NEED!

Walking will tire anyone out including dogs.

Papi doesn't mind the bath, just doesn't like the hair dryer, but he would stay still most of the time until I finish the job!

A Jack Russell Terrier/ Beagle mix? That’s like the cutest combination! Anyway, some dogs really find it hard to take a bath, especially when the weather is too cold. But it’s great that you have a strategy on how to get him to take a bath. I’m sure he finds it refreshing, even if he doesn’t want to admit it. Haha! Thanks for sharing this with us, Adam. All the best!
