I went to a small circus a few years ago, and I liked it. But I do remember hearing about how awful elephants are usually treated once circuses start to train them and use them for shows. It made me feel a little guilty, but I'm glad the well-known Ringling Bros. Circus is deciding to stop using elephants for their shows by 2018. Hopefully this will encourage other circuses to do the same.

It is just heartbreaking to hear that any animal was abused and make to work unnecessary.
I know- it is just sad, Adam..that they were treated so badly. I have always been fascinated by them and how smart they are. I am glad Ringling Bros is stepping up to the plate!
Elephants are very special creatures.
I was really glad to hear this. I don't think such majestic animals should be kept for circuses and held and abused for our entertainment. Zoo's do good work but I also don't think al ot of the animals should be kept in cages the way they are.
this is why I never visit circuses and Zoos
It's good to hear these changes. Animal cruelty is never ok:(
Yes, sentient creatures like elephants and dolphins should never be enslaved for our entertainment.
In some countries like in Thailand, elehant are still used for work in daily life and for tourist entertainment. This is a lot better than being slaughtered for ivory. Lets hope they have a good life in captivity in Thailand.
Greetings,
Filip
I totally and emphatically agree with you.
It is a good thing.
I refuse to visit the circus. Too much abuse of the animals, I could never support them!
That is a step in the right direction. These are such beautiful animals.
