President Obama Speaks Truth on Baltimore Riots

The thing I hate about even the politicians I like is they often never tell things like they are. When a bad event happens, they express (not so convincing) condolences and prayers followed by a boring speech. The current wave of riots following news stories about the evils committed by a few police officers have gotten ludicrous. These events should be protested peacefully, but unfortunately in major cities there are too many people acting like they got no sense. I was glad to see President Obama tell the honest truth in response to the Freddie Gray riots in Baltimore, Maryland.

"When individuals get crowbars and start prying open doors to loot, they're not protesting, they're not making a statement, they're stealing," "When they burn down a building, they're committing arson. And they're destroying and undermining businesses and opportunities in their own communities that rob jobs and opportunity from people in that area."

I agree that it was a strong, honest comment. Like everything he says, I hear he's taking heat for it.

This is 100% true.
They are rioters, looters and malcontents.
End of subject.
Obama's address was shown here on TV in Australia.
Remove the fictitious from the fact.
The fictitious sells news - regrettably facts get lost, eh?
Of course the media mostly are to blame.
The bigger the fire, the bigger grin on the TV reporter's
face. Sickening.
Well done, Adam.
Oh and all the best for the pending wedding on Friday.

That was so disheartening to see...what was (is) going on in Baltimore. Wholeheartedly agree with Obama. Those riots were not a statement about the injustice, but really just an excuse to steal for some people:(

About time he finally says something intelligent. Usually he's just good for opening his mouth and saying something that encourages this kind of reckless behavior from the hoodlums.

What happened to that man was horrible and I bet most of these people don't know who he was. Just an excuse to do wrong.

I like what he said. It's the truth. These types of acts are criminal.
