While chickens are well-known to lay eggs, they also are known to eat their own eggs at times. Farmers have prevented them from doing so by deterring them by switching some eggs with golf balls.
They eat each other too... when chicken see a spot of blood they will eat the wounded chicken alive.... that is why some farmers put on them ridiculous small pink glasses so that they wouldn't see red

...I guess you mean hens lay eggs, hehehehe, ( it was a joke) I didn't know they eat their own eggs. Kisses:)
Never knew that. Those golf balls must hurt the beak
Isn't the pic a rooster lol
Oh! That I didn't know...
two hens in the background
I use the old golf ball trick for my chicks when I want them to use a different nest. They are definitely creatures of habit and change comes hard.
Never heard of such...guess it works tho. :)
I always herd that once they start, it is almost impossible to break them of the habit
did not know that!
I have seen that, eating their own eggs, but, golf balls?????????
I didn't know that!
Seriously? I had no idea.
And sometimes, they steal the eggs of others and run around the yard with them.
If I comment, 'you are kidding,' you'll know what I mean - right?
