The "Talk Fest" capital building in the World!Appropriate that it is in New York. The ideals of the founding fathers of this organisation disappeared when thelast of the 51 founding nations signed on the dotted line. All it is good for now is countries paying for "hot air", the New York real estate marketmaking heaps from rentals of diplomats and staff, agreeing on nothing, having a clause for a veto by the permanent big 5 and that stops everything in developing. The organisation is one bloody BIG JOKE!B J Hunnicut
That building evokes the hopes and dreams of my post-WWII childhood.ALOHA ComfortSpiral =^..^=
I suppose Cloudia or is that Claudia??Well in 1945 with only 51 members, there were hopes, but with now 193 members and some the size of Island states, it would be a miracle ofmiracles for agreement. Nauru - just off the Australian coastline has a representative in the General Assembly - this country is as poor as the proverbial "church mouse" !Then the big 5 - China (P.R.C), France, Russia, the UK and the USA havinga veto power and these 5 can't agree on anything of importance, the whole idea of the UN is nothing but a "pipe's dream" - actually I think stuff in the pipe that is not good for one's health - ha ha.B J Hunnicut.
My husband calls them a joke that gets nothing done.
I agree with them, nothing gets done.
They just have a place to yap now
It looks like an iPhone.
Interesting looking building.
Know doubt a good thing when commenced, but harder now with so many members, would be harder to agree...
they've lost any significance the moment they started supporting or turning a blind eye on the evil around the world... especially on the evil some of their leading members are commiting.
It's a wonderful concept. It would be great if they could get more done.Enjoy the rest of your Sunday, Adam.
And a few members are included who aren't on the map---like the Palestinian Territories.
that must of modeled themselves after Congress
I guess we all wish they could get more done...
