While Thomas Edison is considered the inventor of the light-bulb, he was by far not the first person to create artificial light. Humphry Davy created the first incandescent light when he connected his battery to a piece of carbon and it glowed. Though the light never lasted long and was too bright for much use.

Probably everything that has been invented had some form used before the actual documented inventor made it.
That... I didn't know.
Thanks for all the facts you have for us, Adam.
Edison, like Newton, saw higher than anyone else because he stood on the shoulders of giants.
Cool!
As far as I know, there are several people who had researched the field of artificial light before.
Have a great day,

I do recall hearing this from somewhere. Coincidentally, I was reading about Edison this morning - something about him being removed from school. I wasn't sure if it was true so I'll have to look it up!
Interesting. I didn't know that.
I had no idea
