Sad Story: Trash Recycle

My first job was at a supermarket, and we had a bin to collect plastic grocery bags people wanted to recycle. One of the managers told me to take two huge bags of them and throw them away. I never understood his reasoning, but I always felt that was strange and not very ethical. Though I'd say karma kicked in and that same manager no longer works there.

Oh good grief! That's terrible! I'm glad he's gone.

There's a mini-scandal going on in Canada right now because some whistleblower employee revealed that Starbucks and Tim Hortons both just throw out their "recyclables" too. Bastards.

Damn, you'd think companies and managers would be more wise

There was an episode about this on Marketplace. Did you watch it? I was pretty disappointed.

Awful. It seems a lot of places are doing this.

Here people thought they were doing good by recycling and this manager was just tossing plastic into the landfill.

From my experiences with retail, I can't say I'm too surprised.

I worked at Waldenbooks many years ago and they always made us rip the cover off of paperbacks and toss the rest of the book in the trash. Such a waste!
