Fact of the Day: Copper

Copper's abbreviation on the periodic table is Cu. It is short for the Latin word Cuprum, one of the Latin words for copper. Its name basically meant "Cyprus metal".

I had to learn all the periodic table when I was in school. Remember some but not very many.
I remember when pennies were really copper. : ) I think they were 95% copper before 1982.
