Fact of the Day: Anchovy Herring

While anchovies are well known (sometimes infamously) in the food industry, the small little fish's closest living relatives are members of the herring family.

Anchovies = ESPANIA or the Iberian Pensinula, add the (r)if that is your spelling. Yummy.
Herrings = Scandinavian countries - more yummy.
Delicious beyond belief and the so-many ways they can be prepared for epicurean delights.
B J Hunnicut and especially Major Charles Emerson Wincester 111 - who made such a fuss over them in the tent they called "THE SWAMP". aka Colin

I don't eat fish at all (maybe a shrimp cocktail every now and then) and I SURE don't want to eat these...

Don't have it often but I like them on pizza.

I can eat them but they're not a favorite food.

I read somewhere that a half dozen small fish are canned as anchovies. I guess size is more important than the type of fish.

A non Anchovy fish being passed as an anchovy in countries on the Mediterranean - especially Spain, Italy
and Greece!!
I would love to see it tried.
