A common automobile accident is when cars and other vehicles collide with deer passing on the road. Which happens about 1.5 million times each year in the United States, causing about 150 human deaths.

My sister hit a deer once while driving a rental vehicle. She said the deer "just exploded."

I think we had this problem in Illinois too. My teacher friend was in Canada and they hit a moose at night. She said both the moose and their jeep died.

They are certainly not small creatures. We have problems with kangaroos and our other native animals being killed with road kill.
