Favorite Quotes: Old Horses

"Old minds are like old horses; you must exercise them if you wish to keep them in working order."
-John Adams

I like this quote by John Adams, the 2nd President of the United States. I'm not old by any means, but its not exactly smart to think all old people are wise. Idiots grow old too. Are minds are like swords, you have to do some work to keep them sharp. I've heard stories of people forgetting how to speak languages they were once fluent in because they grew out of the practice. Never stop learning and thinking for yourself. Stupidity is a terrible disease.

Wise words from John Adams.
You are really NEVER too old to learn.
The unfortunate part of aging is that some of
us get that cruel affliction called DEMENTIA - that is so sad.
My 92 year old mother has it - once a most active mind, now can't remember what happened 5 minutes ago but the staff at the retirement home are just so wonderfully dedicated people.

Great advice. My Dad had lost his first language by the time he died because he didn't have anybody left to talk to.
