Fact of the Day: Arthur Whig

As a young man future-president Chester A. Arthur took politics quite seriously. He supported the Whig Party (which eventually became the Republican Party) and got in a brawl at school with students who supported Democrat James K. Polk over Whig party candidate Henry Clay in the 1844 presidential election.
