During World War II, Marilyn Monroe worked in a factory that made planes for the war effort while she still had her birth name (though married under the name of Dougherty) Norma Jeane Mortenson. It was after meeting a photographer there that her modeling career began which later got her roles in movies that made her even more famous.

My giddy Aunt - she is just so beautiful!!!
Interesting, never knew that.
One little moment in time sure spurred her on to new heights
WOW she went on to fly sky high!
A star can be discovered anywhere, I guess.
I didn't know any of this!
I think she's prettier without the platinum blond hair.
I was a big fan of hers...and, again, drugs cut her life waaay too short. The world has lost a lot of awesome people
to drugs...street drugs AND prescription drugs...so heartbreaking
