Mainly due to human hunting, the Caspian Tiger went extinct in the 1970's. The tiger species had roamed Turkey, Afghanistan, Iran, China, and Russia. It was one of the largest members of the big cat family though not quite as large as Siberian Tigers.

probably a lot of them made into rugs and head mounts and hanging on hunters walls somewhere...such a waste of a beautiful animal.
