Fact of the Day: Old Berlin

Berlin has always been the most important city in present-day Germany. It was the capital of Margraviate of Brandenburg for centuries, until 1701 with the rise of Kingdom of Prussia which also took Berlin as the capital and it stayed the capital when Germany unified completely.

Now that it is relatively close to me, I am looking forward to seeing it soon :) I want to visit where the wall was.

Hitler wanted to make Berlin a magnificent city like Rome but Berlin has an extremely high water table and the land can't support huge monuments.

Berlin!
How I wish on my European trips that I had gone to Berlin BUT
the East was still walled off from the West and I was too scared
of being stuck there.
The Brandenburg Gate would have been my first visit and then
the former Wehrmacht Headquarters to see the Memorial garden
for the 20th July patriots, von Stauffenberg etc.
