In 1982 a Jack Russell terrier became the first dog to travel both to the North Pole and the South Pole. It will most likely never happen again as dogs are no longer allowed in Antarctica as they fear the dogs could spread diseases to the native seals.

I didn't know dogs are not allowed in Antarctica. I've always thought that there are huskies at least over there!
Oh yes, that makes sense!

thanks for shearinng dear
Interesting.
Jeez, not a lotta body fat or hair on a Jack Russell. Wonder how it stayed warm? A down-filled arctic parka is my bet.
Didn't know that dogs were now forbidden.
I'm surprised that type of dog was chosen. I wonder what the reason behind that was.
