Fact of the Day: Goober Peanut

While not very commonly used today, but other names for the legume called peanuts are groundnuts and goobers.

Ah, I heard people called goobers before, but never knew where it came from.

I have eaten all my life and still do. They have them by a small bag and I keep them. Really good roasted.

When we were kids, my sister and I used to sing this old American folk song called "Goober Peas."

Goobers is just not right. I don't think I will look at a peanut the same way again.
