Fact of the Day: Bonaparte Religion

Napoleon Bonaparte had a somewhat complex religious history in a traditionally Catholic country like France. For most of his life, he was more of a deist. He did know how to be a friend to the Catholic church, but he did help eliminate earlier restrictions upon Jews and Protestants. He also ended the Spanish Inquistion.

In the famous coronation painting by David, Napoleon has just snatched the crown from the Pope's hands to crown himself. The painting shows Napoleon in a far more gracious act of crowing his wife Josephine. Yes, Napoleon had a complex relationship with religion.

I didn't know any of this. I'm happy to hear that he put an end to the Spanish Inquisition. What a horrible time!

Good ole "Boney". He had his good points as well as some rather over ambitious - the was on Russia being one.
Still he introduced the Napoleonic Code for jurists, which is
still in existence with updates / modifications today.

Turnip Top would be well advised to learn from Napoleon.
These "early morning Tweets" are becoming more bizarre by the days.
"Bugging" Trump Towers!!!!!!!!!!! Really??????
Oh where is your commentator from Luddock, TX. - hiding down a gopher
hole, maybe?

Not "the was on Russia being one" - meant to be
"One was the invasion or attempt to conquer Russia".
