I have to admit, I don't have anything against Julia Roberts, but People magazine recently dubbed her (for a fifth time but not in-a-row) the most beautiful woman in the world. Beauty can mean different things, but I could name quite a few other women off the top of my head with ease. I think Kate Beckinsale, Charlize Theron, and Scarlett Johansson easily outrank her there.
What do you think?

Beauty is indeed in the eye of the beholder. I like her personality and enjoy hearing her being interviewed, so in that sense I think she is a beautiful person. -Jenn
I love all her movies but the women you named definitely outrank her.

Everyone does indeed have their own idea of beauty. I'm perfectly content with her in the number one slot.
Happy Earth Day, Adam.
Her looks have never appealed to me.
Eye of the beholder, Adam
She's not my idea of beautiful as such.
I guess it all depends on how they've defined her beauty. I personally don't find her that attractive but she seems like a nice person and that counts, too. There are certainly a lot of other women I find are much more attractive than she is.
she is really beautiful but like you I think in others too !
Lovely yes, not the most. I think Evangeline Lilly and Marion Cotillard are more beautiful and interesting looking.
I really enjoy Julia's movies, and whenever I see her interviewed, I can appreciate her pleasant personality. We all have our opinions of what beauty means, but I sort of wish our focus was more on inside beauty and kindness, which is usually a more accurate portrayal of character. Great post! Hugs...
I think she is extremely attractive and fantastically gifted.

I think Cate Blanchett is beautiful, but then she blew me away as Galadriel ~ and that's from LOTR so I'm prejudiced.
Eye of the beholder seems to be the winner here. I work in the beauty industry and here it's all about external beauty, which is so sad.
If People Magazine would at least state what their criterion is for selecting a "Most Beautiful" person we might better understand their selection.
As for Julia I do not find her the "most beautiful" if being ranked purely on physical appearance. There are indeed millions of faces on this planet that are far more beautiful in composition.
Yet, it's her inner beauty that seeps through the pores that creates a beauty like no other - but you have to be looking for that type of beauty in order to call her "the most beautiful".
So, in a nutshell, we come back to "the eye of the beholder". It's all personal and all about what that eye beholds as beautiful.
I think it's next to impossible to choose who is the most beautiful in Hollywood.
