Fact of the Day: Gaul France

The ancient land/country of Gaul that was famously conquered for Rome by Julius Caesar is about the same geographically as modern day France thousands of years later. The Gauls learned to speak Latin which eventually evolved into French.

We're going to France at the end of this week and I'm looking forward to seeing many of the Roman ruins of Provence.

I have never understood why people in England and US make fun of the French. Is it the accent or something else?
