The vast majority of the world's opals comes from Australia.

Opal Mining fields in Australia are NOT for the FAINT HEARTED.

In some places you live underground and in summer the heat is
really unbelievable and in winters (no snow of course) you will freeze!
Have fun if you want to come and do OPAL mining/foraging in the Aussie outback.
