Fact of the Day: Fast Bamboo

Bamboo is one of the fastest growing plants in the world. It can even grow three feet in a twenty-four hour period.

That's worse than the kudzu vine, isn't it. My husband wanted to plant some bambo here when we bought the land. Sure glad we didn't.

Bamboo is the largest variety of grass.

It is also used in torture..........prisoners have been know to be tied over it and it will grow into their skins.
This was used in WW2 in the Pacific theatre and in subsequent conflicts in that area..........Vietnam comes to mind.

I was going to say the same thing about Kudzu it must grow slowly compared to bamboo.

I've seen bamboo run amok in my grandmother's yard in Nova Scotia. It's more aggressive than raspberry canes.
