Fact of the Day: Original Ketchup

While almost anyone in modern times would say that ketchup can only be made with tomatoes, historically that's not true. It was originally made out of things like eggs, walnuts, oysters, and even mushrooms.

Did they call it ketchup (or catsup)? Didn't the Romans have some sort of foul fish sauce...called something like 'garum?'
