We're Back From Vacation

I'm not a big fan of traveling (long car rides and sleeping on a bed that's not truly yours) but we had to go almost three hours in a car to see the NC State Zoo in Asheboro, NC. The biggest draw and only reason I'd consider going that far is to see the polar bear which is the only zoo close to us that has one. You'll learn of our adventures later, but yes Mr. Polar Bear was there and he was awesome.

Cool that you got to see the polar bear. They are impressive!
It made me smile that a three hour car ride seems so long to you. : )

Was he in a natural habitat? I'm assuming so from the pic.

Polar bears are associated with snow. I can't see any snow but I guess artificial snow is liberally supplied otherwise
the bear would probably die.
Most zoos have this and I can't imagine this zoo in NC being any different.

We no longer have a polar bear in the Portland Zoo. I don't know why. Maybe they lent him out for stud purposes.

Glad you had a nice trip. I used to enjoy going to the Lincoln Park Zoo in Chicago with my kids where we could see the polar bears too.
