Fact of the Day: French King John II's Return Trip to England

During the Hundred Years' War, King John II of France was captured by the English. The English agreed to let him return to France to complete conditions stated in the Treaty of Bretigny but only if he let his son Louis be a hostage. However Louis escaped but John II felt bounded by honor to return to England since he made the promise. However John II died there in England before ever getting a chance to return to France.

Yeah, what a sense of honor. Sure wouldn't see that displayed today.
