Fact of the Day: Safe Quicksand

While many movies and tv shows have people stuck in quicksand in the plot, it's actually almost impossible (due to levels of density) for a person or an animal to be submerged in quicksand.

Oh darn! My brother and I used to terrorize ourselves with stories of getting stuck in quicksand. We would dare each other to jump over places that sucked down rocks.

It should have been 'slowsand'.

What? Movies lied to me? Damn.

That's pretty dang amazing, Adam! I literally have gone through life based on movies thinking that we could get stuck in quicksand if we ever encountered it. Wow!

Ha ha - I wouldn't be testing that theory in Saudi Arabia, here in Australia or any other country that has quick sand.
I'll stick to the signs..........."BEWARE QUICK SAND", thanks very much.

You wouldn't think so if you'd grown up on Tarzan movies like I did.

I'm happy to hear that. I think too many movies as a child had me terrified of this happening.
