Photo: NC State Zoo Safari

This is the safari area to the NC State Zoo, though the safari only operates on certain days and since we came on Monday, we could only see it from far away. The zoo is pretty big on its own, but this huge area doesn't make me doubt why its considered the world's largest zoo (walk-through) even if there are less animals per square foot.
We were also there during the solar eclipse. It wasn't exactly "prime" area, but people had their glasses. This guy brought a welder's helmet.

I live here and had no clue it was considered that large. Definitely need to check it out one day soon. Hugs...RO

I very much doubt if this Zoo Safari part is anywhere near the size of the Western Plains Zoo here at Dubbo in Australia or any of the African Wild park zoos!
Someone is having moments of grandeur! Almost Turnip Top moments!
Cheers

It sure looks like a great place to visit, I am sure it was crowded for the eclipse.

Ha! Our son was a work and he viewed the eclipse through a welding helmet.

That is a big area! It must have been hot under that welder's helmet.
