Question: Do You Have Great Respect For the Bald Eagle?

Now this probably only applies to my fellow American friends here, since it is our national bird. I recently read a story where a man admitted to gruesomely killing a bald eagle for taking fish out of his pond. It really upset me more than it had been another type of bird. I also remember when they were endangered when I was a kid, they really should be off-limits in all reasonable cases. If a bald eagle wants fish from your pond for example, let him take it.

Do you have extra respect for bald eagles?

  3. They are magnificent birds. I saw one the other day fly over the road from the lake into the woods.
I'd be happy to see an eagle take fish out of my pond. : ) Would be neat to see one up close/

  5. Actually any bird that takes fish like this is only doing what nature has taught them to do, Eagles are beautiful birds indeed I have only seen one once while fishing in the mountains here in CA, everyone around that pond stopped what they were doing to watch him fly over, it was really nice.

  6. Not really. Ben Franklin wanted the Turkey to be our national symbol.

  8. I think the American eagle is a magnificent creature, and I get a huge thrill whenever I get to see one. The thrill comes from the bird, not from it being America's national bird. I sometimes wonder if America would have been different with a turkey as its national symbol, more peaceful, less interested in military power and world leadership.
