Fact of the Day: The King's Barber

When King Charles I was captured and sentenced to death for treason by Parliament, before he died they had dismissed his barber. King Charles I kept his beard long afterward as he trusted nobody else with a razor near him.

I suppose he didn't have the luxury of waiting for it to grow back if he didn't like the cut.

I don't blame him-back then there were straight razors and one "slip" and it was good-bye!

I think having a sharp razor near my throat would mean I would have trust issues also.
