Fact of the Day: Russians Vs Napoleon

Known in English as the French Invasion of Russia, Napoleon's failed plot to conquer Russia was known as the Patriotic War of 1812 in Russian.

There was a sign on the road to Moscow that read 250,000 soldiers passed on the way to Russia. A few months later the sign was changed to read 40,000 returned. So much for Napoleon's Grand Army.
