Fact of the Day: Italian Popes

While there have been hundreds of Popes since the founding of the Catholic Church, almost 3/4ths of the men who have become Pope were born in present-day Italy.

Being the centre of Catholicism that makes sense to me in days of yore, but you might note that recent popes due to the availability of transportation ( we have moved from the years of the ox cart)
have been non-Italians.
Be careful where you tread, Adam. Consider the historical facts especially the communication improvements over the recent centuries. Planes do exist these days!!!!
