Photos: Smithsonian National Zoo Big Cats

What's a zoo without lions and tigers right? Too bad they're naturally nocturnal. I'm not shocked to see the tiger here snoozing.
This male lion here was awake...sort of.
Not much to see from the female lions either.

Every time we saw the big cats at the zoo they would be lying around too.

Nice. Somebody's been to the zoo!

In their native surroundings - way out in the savannas of Africa etc.
in the midday sun they rest..........hunting is done at dusk, during the night or early in the morning.
Thus they were having their "SIESTAS" when you were visiting.

Cats are cats. They all snooze their lives away.

They're doing what cats do best - snooze!

Maybe the zoo should be open all night.
