Photos: Various Mammals at the Smithsonian National Zoo

 One of the ones I remember most of is the lemur here.
 Hard to forget a stare like that. 
 This is a sand cat, like regular cats, this sand cat wasn't do anything but sleeping... Still cute though. 
And finally the rock hyrax. The neat thing about these guys is that they are the closest living beings to elephants.

love lemurs and that sand cat is, well, a cat but I never heard of a hyrax let alone it being closely related to the elephant. very interesting

they share a common ancestor about 50 million years ago

That lemur's fur is mighty rich in color. I've never heard of the other two cute creatures.I wonder if they'd like to come to the ABC wedding. :-)

I had never heard of the Hyrax or Sand cat. The lemurs are cute, they do have a piercing stare.
