beautiful trees! <3 Blog x Facebook x Instagram x Bloglovin
I love cherry blossom trees:)
The first Cherry Blossom tree gift to the U. S. had to be destroyed because of insect infestation. President Taft gave the order to burn the trees. The first Cherry Blossom festival was in 1934. Seven years later Japan attacked Pearl Harbor. During WW II four trees were destroyed due to anti-Japanese feelings within the public. The Cherry Blossom festival continued in 1947, after the war, and has become one of the most popular events in Washington D. C.
