Fact of the Day: Alberta Rats

Alberta, Canada is the largest area in the world (without constant sub-zero temperatures like Antarctica) without rats. This was the result of decades of aggressive government campaigns to exterminate the vermin.

  1. No kidding? That must be nice. Hawaii is overrun in some places with mongoose.

  4. That's right -- we have "rat patrols" -- government agents who go out to exterminate any rats that get reported in the province.

  5. Adam, I hate those creepy little paws. Rodents are nasty germ spreaders and destructive to have in your home. I do not want bugs, spiders or rodents on my home. LOL Could you imagine the agency that would have to rid NYC of rats? LOL Bless you, xoxo, Susie

  6. I wish they did that where I live. We only have a mouse once in a while but even that is too much. We use poison to keep them at bay.

  7. Did the Alberta authorities send all their filthy rats to Washington, DC?

  8. Its true! We even have a toll free # you can call and report a rat sighting. When they say rat free, they mean no breeding rats, and any found are quickly destroyed. Luckily our west border is mountains and our east border is rat patrolled! Yaay Alberta!
